Nate has been serving as the District 1 representative on the Snohomish County Council since the beginning of the year. As the former Vice Chair of the Stanwood Planning Commission, Nate’s background led to his being selected as the Chair of the County Council’s Planning Committee. Nate also chairs the Performance Audit Committee and is Co Vice-Chair of Snohomish County Tomorrow. Other boards and committees he is involved with include the Finance Committee, Law & Justice Committee, Public Works Committee, Operations Committee, E-911 Board, Health District Board, Information and Technology Advisory Committee, Library Capital Facilities Gov. Board, Economic Alliance of Snohomish County’s Aerospace in Action Committee, Water Resource Inventory Area 5 (Stillaguamish), and the Washington State Association of Counties’ Federal Legislative Steering Committee.
A former middle school teacher, Nate was born and raised in Marysville before graduating from Western Washington University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Nate taught 6th grade science at Cedarcrest Middle School in Marysville and coached soccer at Marysville Getchell High School before his appointment to the Snohomish County Council. He also volunteered through several organizations, including the Marysville Community Food Bank, the Marysville YMCA Miracle Basketball League, and various youth ministries.
Nate and his wife, Savannah, currently live in Stanwood. They are both active in the community. Nate is a youth ministry leader at their church and is also a member of the Friends of Stanwood Parks and Trails group as well as Next Generation Stanwood-Camano.
